Kathryn W. Davis Tribute: New York Times In Memoriam Ad

Kathryn W. Davis, a good friend of Future Generations and founder of the Peacebuilding Master's degree concentration, died the morning of April 23, 2013. At 106 years, she led a very full life, and Future Generations was blessed to have her generosity in supporting the Green Long March in China, inviting our Grad students to participate in the Davis Projects for Peace Prize, and founding the new Peacebuilding concentration of our Master's degree program.

Master’s Degree Student from Uganda Wins Davis Project for Peace Award

James Latigo at the India ResidentialJames Latigo at the India ResidentialJames Latigo, a student of Future Generations Graduate School, received a $10,000 Davis Project for Peace award to improve cross-border relations between northern Uganda and South Sudan. James’ project seeks to promote trust, cooperation, and learning among selected communities along the border with strategies to promote cross-border dialogue, facilitate mediation committees, and devise a memorandum of understanding for cross-border interactions.

Storytelling to Heal Trauma

In February, Future Generations Graduate School Endowed Professor, Dr. Shukria Hassan of Afghanistan, exchanged powerful stories with other development experts as part of a course at Eastern Mennonite University on Strategies for Trauma Awareness and Resilience (STAR).

New Video Used for Health Advocacy in Peru Viewed by 400 Health Officials

A new video produced by Future Generations Peru was recently presented at two  Peruvian Fora, reaching more than 400 Ministry of Health Officials from all 24 regions. Available in English and Spanish, the video tells the day in the life of a Community Health Worker who promotes health prevention and links her community with the community co-managed health center.

Influencing Health Policy in Peru

With evidence and advocacy from Future Generations Peru, the Regional Health Office of Huánuco recently added a new strategy, known as "sectorization," to their official policy for strengthening all of Huánuco's 253 primary health care facilities.

Jacob Burns Film Center Hosts Media Training for WV Computer Mentors

During a two-day training workshop hosted by the New-York based Jacob Burns Film Center, 26 computer mentors from 21 fire and rescue stations across West Virginia learned how to create captivating videos to tell the stories of their communities. Held in Charleston, the media empowerment training focused on digital storytelling, video creation, and photography lessons.
