Beijing – Future Generations welcomes Guangchun Lei to be Country Director of Future Generations China. Dr. Lei will lead the organization to have greater China-wide impact in the areas of conservation and community development.

"Living on Earth" Features the Green Long March

Public Radio International's #1 syndicated environmental radio show, Living on Earth, featured an episode on the Green Long March the week of November 17th.

The Green Long March  began in 2007 with leadership from Future Generations China and Beijing Forestry University. Today, with 5,000 students from 50 Chinese Universities, it is known as China's largest youth movement for the environment.

New Pendeba Society in Tibet, China

As a student in Future Generations Master’s Degree Program in Applied Community Change and Conservation, Tsering Norbu led in the creation of a new non-profit organization, obtaining legal status through Lhasa’s Civil Affairs Bureau with government support from the Shigatse QNNP Management Bureau. Enthusiasm for the Pendeba Society has come from Mr. Gonglou Duioji, the first Tibetan to have climbed Mt. Everest.

The Walrus features Future Generations and the Green Long March

Reporter Mitch Moxley, who covered the Beijing Olympics for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and writes a blog, Letter from China, for The Walrus Magazine, makes his way inside the budding Chinese environment movement in this most recent post. The Green Long March is referenced as an example of China's "burgeoning and vocal environmental movement."

Pendeba Meeting

Lhamu Tsering conducts a Pendeba meeting in front of ancient, and now-eroded, watch towers in the Dingri area of Qomolangma Preserve.  Among other tasks, Pendebas attempt to work with the residents of their villages to clarify what the villagers would like to do in terms of agricultural improvements, health care, education, and income generation.
