Ice seracs and the North Face

Ice seracs and the north face of Qomolangma, 8,848 meters, seen in the distance from the Rongbuk Glacier. While the main pyramid of Qomolangma is the principal attraction here, the peak has gathered the whole region under its spell, and the summit is only one part of a national nature preserve that now covers 37,290 square kilometers, extending far to the west and as low as 1,800 meters.
