Makula massif

The Makula massif, seen here from the northeast, rises above the Gama Valley in the Qomolangma National Nature Preserve and includes the summit of Chomolonzo, 7,790 meters.  The valley offers grazing for village animals and provides habitat for wild blue sheep and snow leopards.  Now that the valley is under community-based management, wildlife numbers have increased significantly.
