Tribute to Graduate Student, Kirti Poudel
Future Generations remembers Kirti Poudel, student of the Future Generations Graduate School.
Future Generations would like to pay tribute to Kirti Poudel, a Graduate School student enrolled in this year's course, as he passed away on February 20, in Arunachal Pradesh, India. Kirti was a 42-year-old Nepali, who was enrolled in the two-year Master's Degree Program in Applied Community Change and Conservation. He was a Senior Natural Resource Conservation Officer in the Annapurna Conservation Area Project, around the mountains of Annapurna and Dhaalagiri in Nepal.
Kirti was committed to preserving the pristine environment of the Himalayan wilderness. He grew up in rural Nepal and dedicated his academic career to natural resource management, particularly looking for ways to effectively integrate nature conservation and economic development. He was looking forward to using the knowledge and skills gained in the Future Generations Master’s program to develop innovative techniques in protected area management and forest ecology.
Kirti will be missed greatly by his family in Nepal and his global family - those who share his values and passion.
