Future Generations restructures for Sustainability and Impact

In 2011, Future Generations, the international civil society organization (CSO), experienced a structural realignment. The CSO now acts as an incubator of breakthrough ideas by:

  • Initiating small- and large- scale demonstrations of SEED-SCALE in health, community capacity building, peacebuilding, conservation, and other areas.
  • Nurturing the activation and growth of autonomous /independent local CSOs. The United States CSO may take on a variety of activities that are field-centric and suited to the needs of the local communities where its programs operate including research, small- scale demonstration projects, large-scale programs, etc.

The restructuring will enable the organization to better achieve mission, strengthen the institutional financial base, and create synergy with the Future Generations Graduate School and its country partners. The teams advance innovations in four key areas (health, community capacity building, conservation and peacebuilding) that are consistent with the Future Generations mission (to teach and enable a process for equitable community change that integrates environmental conservation with development).
