Integrated Approach

Future Generations focuses on the question: how do communities change in order to create equitable and sustainable futures? Change at the community level generates solutions that can grow to respond to problems of global magnitude. At the community level, poverty can be alleviated, the environment can be protected, health can be improved and people can be educated. Communities are small enough to find solutions that fit local ecology, economy and values, and large enough to extend change to the regional or national level.

To support communities and their organizational and government partners, Future Generations' integrated approach is to:

  • Research how communities change;
  • Demonstrate a process of community change in four countries;
  • Teach the scholarship and application of community change through a Master's Degree program.
