Future Generations process for equitable and sustainable community change is now being applied and tested in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, two states in India, nationwide in Peru, in the central Hazarajat region of Afghanistan and in other affiliated sites worldwide. The results are encouraging:
In less than ten years, Peru's community managed health centers have grown to 2000 and are now serving 30% of the population.
In the isolated state of Arunachal Pradesh, India, a community that began applying this approach only three years ago is now a regional training center for over 20 neighboring communities. This same community will soon serve as the training center for all of the locally elected Panchayat leaders in the state.
All 318 villages within the Qomolangma (Mt. Everest) National Nature Preserve will soon have their own Pendeba, a worker who benefits the village. Ten regional training centers are being established
Community-based reconstruction in Afghanistan's Central Plateau region promises to be a model for building peace nationwide. Over 10,000 women are now learning literacy, primary health and other practical skills in mosque-based schools supported by their communities.
Seventeen students from 12 countries are now enrolled in Future Generations Master's Degree Program in Applied Community Change and Conservation and are learning skills to contribute to the equitable and sustainable development of their own communities.
