On May 14, 2010, the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health held a celebration of Carl Taylor’s life and work, focusing on his remarkable professional achievements and the inspiration that he gave to so many people throughout the world.

The late Dr. Carl Taylor is remembered with an obituary in this month's issue of Lancet, one of the world's leading medical journals. In addition, the Lancet features a posthumous piece by Dr. Taylor on the legacy of Jim Grant, Director of UNICEF from 1980-1995.

Global health legend dies at 93.

On Feb 4, 2010 Professor Carl Taylor passed away after a battle with prostate cancer. Prof. Taylor was well-known in the global health community. He dedicated his life to international health, working in more than 70 countries and founding Johns Hopkins University's Department of International Health.

At 2008's International Conference on Global Health, where he received the award for lifetime achievement Prof. Taylor took time out to talk with Global Health TV and reflect on his long career.

‘The West can encourage legitimacy and accountability’

Nir Rosen argues that the U.S. military strategy in Afghanistan is likely to fail and that the Karzai government is irredeemably illegitimate. I agree with the first point, but not with the second.
